Chocolate Spiders

  • 2/3 cup chocolate chips
  • Saucepan or microwave-safe bowl
  • 2 cups chow mein noodles
  • Baking sheet
  • Wax paper
  • Small red candies (not for children under 3 years)


  • Melt the chocolate chips in a saucepan on the stove or melt them in a bowl in the microwave. Keep your child away from the heated stovetop. Don't let her touch the melted chocolate while it's still hot.
  • Toss the noodles with the melted chocolate.
  • Have your child drop spoonfuls of the mixture onto a baking sheet lined with wax paper.
  • Add two candy eyes to each spider.
  • Let the chocolate harden. Store the spiders in the refrigerator.


Adult participation needed for heating ingredients on stove or in microwave.
